The next 3 pictures show my pencil, charcoal, and pen drawings. You can click on them to view in detail. I think the pros and cons of each medium are staggeringly different in respect to what is used in each medium. An advantage of using pencil is it can be erased easily, along with able to apply detail where it needs to be. The con to using pencil is that it often takes a long time and can be tedious, especially with blending values together. An pro of using charcoal is being able to get dark values very quickly with the fatter pieces of it. A disadvantage of using charcoal is that it gets everywhere and can make spaces dirty quickly. An advantage of using pen is that prominent lines can be drawn without having to blend anything, it's smooth to work with. A disadvantage of using pen is that you can't erase it. This warm-up, the upside down Picasso drawing, was most helpful to me throughout this project. Since it was upside-down, it helped me focus on the shapes in the drawing and the proportions of it before the details. Usually, the details are what get me upset in the first place, but when I used this method of putting your subject upside down, it helped me stray away from details for a little bit with my drawings (especially the pencil one!!). **Composition is the placement or arrangement of visual elements and ingredients in a work of art, as distinct from the subject of a work. Value is the element of design that defines light and dark areas in artwork. **
