This is the finished sculpture! Click on the gallery to view the angle and detail shots. My process since the in-progress blog post: 1. After the sculpture was taken out of the kiln, it had to be cooled. 2. Once it was cooled (air-dry), I decided that I would paint the pottery with acrylic paint. 3. I blended various colors of green to paint the vines of my piece (the middle, cylindrical part). 4. I blended a pink color to paint the top of my lid, the bottom of the lid, the inside part of the sculpture and the bottom of the sculpture. 5. I painted gold on top of the the flower to make it pop. ( Since I painted my sculpture with acrylic paint, I did not glaze it. The glazeware going inside the kiln to fire would just make the acrylic burn off.) 6. Ms. Sudkamp sprayed a finishing over my pottery to have a glossy finish. 7. My sculpture is now finished! What I find successful about the piece is the flower on top of the lid. I think it adds such a nice touch to the whole piece and completes it. I also love the gold I added to the top of the flower, it just gives the whole piece the extra touch it needed. I would of changed how I cut out the flower petals, they are a bit uneven and I could have done better on them.
