Here are my contour room drawings. Self Evaluation Q: Did you use a fluid line? Explain how this is evident.
A: I did use a fluid line. This is evident through the flow of the piece and how every part of the drawing is connected. The line never stopped. Q: Explain how your knowledge and creating practice studies with contour line contributed to the success of your piece. A: The practice with the hands, the shoe, and the backpack helped me with practicing contour drawings. It was hard at first to not lift up the pen, but as we did more drawings I got used to it. I learned that these drawings require time and patience, as drawing lines constantly to make it look good can take a long time to finish. Q: Describe the difference in your contour line drawing to an outline drawing. A: The difference between my contour line drawing and an outline drawing is the flow of the lines. Contour lines utilize a single, flowing line that doesn't stop. Outline drawings utilize multiple lines and are more rough/"sketchy" than its latter. Q: Explain how your interpretation of line is essential in capturing the look of the room. A: The interpretation of line can be perceived in different ways for different people. Since this was supposed to be a contour line drawing, it was important to understand that the line should be a continuous, flowing piece that contributed to the whole drawing. It was also important to continuously look at the subject and the drawing at hand to get all of the proportions right. Q: What did you learn from completing this drawing? If you could recreate your piece what would you do differently to enhance the final outcome? A: I learned that contour drawings utilize a single, flowing line. If I could recreate my piece, I would focus on some details of the room to make it pop. I would also work on getting the proportions right of the room.
